CIA Director Nominee John Brennan Interviewed in 2 Investigations into Unauthorized Government Leaks

by Colonel on February 7, 2013

“CIA director nominee John Brennan was interviewed by investigators in two probes of unauthorized leaks to reporters, Brennan acknowledged in a Senate questionnaire.

He said federal prosecutors told his lawyer that Brennan was not a target of either investigation.

Brennan said one interview was part of an investigation of the leaking of classified information about cyber attacks on Iran. …

The other was part of an investigation of the unauthorized disclosure of information about a foiled bomb plot tied to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. …

Brennan did not provide any more details. …

The investigations were started last year after news reports disclosed U.S. involvement in the creation of a computer virus that attacked Iran’s nuclear centrifuges and that a double-agent in Yemen helped foil an al Qaeda attack aimed at the United States.
