Moving Vans Appear at North Korean Embassy in London; North Korea Denies Plans to Shut Down Embassy

by Colonel on April 9, 2013

Signs posted on the street around the building said that removal vans needed access between 8am and 12pm. The area was to be kept clear, the notices said, for “loading work”.

Officials were seen helping movers load crates of possessions into the trucks.

There was a police presence at the semi-detached villa on the North Circular to regulate the traffic. …

The movers were called in just a day before North Korea set a April 10 deadline for foreign embassies, including the British mission, to submit evacuation plans for their Pyongyang delegations.

However North Korean diplomats at the Acton embassy denied that ambassador Hyon Hak Bong planned to leave the country. One diplomat said a relatively junior official had packed his belongings after coming to the end of his posting to the UK.
